Different subregions of the intraparietal cortical area 7 were activated by fixation, saccades to visual targets, and acoustically triggered reaching in the dark. 
Less abundant but consistent projections were detected in cingular, auditory II, lateral suprasylvian and anterior ectosylvian visual cortices, and cortical area 7.
This cortical area 7 also projects to the ipsilateral intermediate and deep layers of the superior colliculus and to several ipsilateral pontine nuclei. cortical area 7 also was seen to project to the accessory nucleus of Darkschewitsch, to all the vestibular nuclei, and to the nucleus propositus hypoglossi; the last two projections were found to be bilateral with a greater ipsilateral contribution.
The attentional function of area Pdm is probably accomplished in coordination with cortical area 7 and possibly other areas.

Pulvinar-latero posterior afferents to the parietal cortical area 7 of the monkey have been demonstrated by means of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) tracing technique.
